Delicious herbal tea is not only warming and soothing but is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and can assist with everything from detoxifying your system to boosting your energy. It’s also a great calorie free hydration choice. From soothing a troubled tummy to easing insomnia, drinking herbal tea can make all sorts of significant changes to your mood, your skin, your energy and sense of well-being. It’s a healthy alternative to regular tea too.
According to one Chinese legend, ‘Shennong’, Emperor of China, discovered herbal tea accidentally almost 5,000 years ago. He was also known as “God of Chinese herbal medicine” because he used to influence the people on the use of herbal drugs. One day he was resting under a Camellia tree. As he was boiling water to drink some leaves floated down into the water, he took a sip and was pleasantly surprised that he liked the taste.
However herbal teas were discovered in past history, we are truly reaping the benefits in our modern day life. The following are a few that we have tried but the list is endless if you fancy being adventurous!

* Mint has a refreshing taste and a strong aroma, is uplifting and cleansing, as well as being wonderful for stomach troubles of all kinds. Peppermint tea has been show to be effective in helping with sleep deprivation.
*Sage has a pleasant taste and aroma, will calm frazzled nerves, help heal a sore throat and headaches as well as indigestion and gastrointestinal upsets, and can offer reprieve from hot flushes.
* Lemon Balm has a lovely lemon flavour and the ability to lift the spirits but can also have a calming effect and help to induce sleep. Lemon Balm tea has been traditionally used to improve digestion and to soothe gastrointestinal ailments.
* Oregano can have a bitter taste so consider sweetening with honey. Drinking oregano tea has advantages for numerous parts of the body, such as the digestive and respiratory systems.
* Basil is believed to provide so many health benefits that it is called ‘king of herbs’. Basil tea helps relieve nausea and is very useful in removing mucus from the bronchial tubes. When used with honey and ginger, it can effectively treat asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems.
